Tackling Energy Poverty

Our work in Mozambique

The last decade has seen economic growth, political stability, more schools being built and an increase in enrolments, particularly of girls. Yet despite these developments, Mozambique remains one of the world’s poorest countries. Over a million citizens live with HIV/AIDS and the pandemic has left half a million orphans. The climate also poses major problems: many communities are prone to droughts, floods and cyclones but lack either radios or electricity to hear potentially life-saving weather reports.
