Tackling Energy Poverty

Our work in South Africa

Despite the progress that has been made by the government in South Africa in areas such as economy and education, the country has one of the fastest-growing and largest HIV/AIDS epidemics in the world. Shocking statistics show that that the number of young women dying from AIDS-related illnesses more than tripled between 1997 and 2004. The prevalence of HIV/AIDS in South Africa is over 20% and there are more than a million AIDS orphans.
