Tackling Energy Poverty

Uganda

Uganda has substantial natural resources and agriculture remains the most important sector of the economy. The country is renowned in Africa for its hugely successful campaign against HIV/AIDS and has become relatively peaceful since the return to democracy in 2005. Since a truce was signed with the Lord’s Resistance army to end the one of Africa’s most ruthless civil wars, the government has tried to rebuild communities and encourage soldier to give up their arms – a campaign which has relied on a vibrant radio network.
