Our solar and wind-up Lifeplayer media player is featured in a recent DFID-funded research paper on ICT in Education. The Lifeplayer, which is a media player, five-band radio and recorder, was identified for its ability to provide education in areas where there is a lack of electricity and skilled teachers.
HEART, a consortium of leading organisations in international development, health, nutrition and education, identified pioneering technologies and initiatives, primarily in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. The paper also highlights the British Council’s English-language training programme in Ethiopia that is using our innovative Lifeplayer to provide access to teacher training.
The Lifeplayer is the first education device of its kind of the humanitarian sector.
