Tom Hanks Day won’t be going according to the original plan* this year, because of COVID-19 social distancing. That doesn’t mean, however, that Hanks fans can’t come together to have fun virtually.
The Tom Hanks Day organisers announced this week that “We will be using Netflix Party to host a virtual movie screening of the 1986 Tom Hanks classic, The Money Pit, at 2pm EST on 04 April! Go to netflixparty.com in your Google Chrome web browser to install the Netflix extension and join us on April 4th for good times, great people, and BIG laughs! We will share the Party link this coming Friday [April 3rd] so stay tuned!”
What is Netflix Party?
According to the THD official website: “Netflix Party is a new way to watch Netflix with your friends online. Netflix Party synchronizes video playback and adds group chat to your favorite Netflix shows.”
Invitation
“We’re encouraging everyone to celebrate wherever they can, and to please share photos/videos/etc., right here [on Facebook] so we can see all the THD action!”
Lifeline Energy will be joining the fun this year and we hope that you can too.
*Hanks fans have traditionally gathered in Chicago and other satellite venues each year for a few hours of fun and memory-making. Proceeds from these events and merchandise sales have been used to support the work of Lifeline Energy, enabling many solar and wind-up radios to be sent to rural sub-Saharan communities, where other technology is unavailable or impractical.
